New Jobs. Right Here.

FALL 2009 :: ISSUE NO. 2

New development brings more than just great spaces to work and play – it also brings new jobs to the community. A sustainable project must provide lasting benefits to the community and Menlo Gateway will do exactly that. The project is expected to provide 1900 construction jobs, 2100 office-related jobs, and over 200 positions in the hospitality industry.

The project will be a boon for local residents and for JobTrain, a Menlo Park-based educational and training institution. The Bohannon Development Company and JobTrain have an agreement to work together and assure that Menlo Park job seekers receive priority in hiring decisions at Menlo Gateway. The agreement reinforces Bohannon's commitment to the community and offers JobTrain clients opportunities for entry-level positions that enable them to further develop their careers and lives.

JobTrain serves adults and youth ages 14 to 21 each year through in-school programs, evening classes, and vocational training programs. In 2008 the program enrolled 506 students in full-time vocational courses and placed 81 percent in quality jobs. Graduates of JobTrain's Computer Service Technician, Culinary Arts, Office Skills, Project Build, and Solar Training programs will be ready to fill positions in construction crews and in Menlo Gateway's hotel, fitness club, and office maintenance teams.

"We are delighted with this wonderful opportunity for our clients," said Sharon Williams, executive director of JobTrain. "The Bohannon Development Company has long been an important supporter of JobTrain and sponsor of events such as our Breakfast of Champions. The organization's desire for our input and inclusiveness throughout the planning phases of Menlo Gateway underscore the Bohannons’ commitment to this community."
